Here2Talk: Free, confidential 24/7 counselling and community referral services are available to students registered at B.C. post-secondary institutions through Here2Talk. Support is available by phone, app and online chat. https://here2talk.ca/main

Naloxone

Naloxone kits are not currently available on campus.

Accommodation & Housing Support

Davis Academy provides information and assistance to students seeking safe and appropriate accommodation. Options may include homestay and independent living arrangements, subject to availability.

Student Services can also assist students with general information about renting in British Columbia, including tenancy rights and responsibilities, security deposits, rental agreements, utilities, transportation considerations, and avoiding rental scams.

Community Integration Support

Davis Academy supports international students in becoming comfortable and engaged in their local community. Student Services can provide information and referrals to help students participate in community activities, access public services, meet people, and adjust to living in Metro Vancouver.

Students are encouraged to contact Student Services for assistance with:

  • locating local community centres, recreation programs and social activities
  • accessing Vancouver Public Library services and obtaining a library card
  • finding appropriate cultural, newcomer and community organizations
  • identifying volunteer and community participation opportunities
  • understanding local transportation and neighbourhood services
  • accessing government and community information services
  • adjusting to life and study in Canada.

Students who are unsure where to obtain assistance can contact Student Services at studentsupport@davisacademy.ca. Staff can help identify an appropriate community or government resource and provide referrals where needed.

Learning Support Services

Davis Academy provides academic learning support to help students succeed in their studies. Support may include:

  • Tutoring: By appointment

  • Writing support: Assistance with writing, assignments and presentations

  • ESL support: Additional English language support

  • Referral: Referral to other academic resources where appropriate

Education & Program Progression Assistance

Academic advising is available to assist students with:

  • Planning courses and program pathways

  • Understanding program and graduation requirements

  • Monitoring academic progress

  • Addressing academic difficulties

  • Preparing for further studies or career goals

          GuardMe: Davis Academy offers GuardMe International Insurance while waiting for MSP eligibility,

         MSP: International students should review British Columbia Medical Services Plan (MSP) eligibility, enrolment requirements and the International Student Health Fee. Student Services can assist students in locating current provincial information about health coverage requirements.
